After a tight first quarter, the Lopes came out with two 3-pointers to spark a 13-0 run over ACU in the second quarter.

GCU led the rest of the way.
“Coming back from break, we had a moment to really come together and realize that our goals are still attainable,” said Speed. “My leaders have done a great job of stepping up and taking charge.”
Angela Shasha and Cassandra Ibarra led the Lopes’ offense with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
“Daeja Banner really is starting to become an all-around point guard for the team, and Jenny Albano’s energy bleeds onto other players,” said Speed. “Both girls are seniors, and have been in the program for four years, so seeing them take the lead has been a dream come true.”
With only three more games left before the AWBL Playoffs, the Lopes have two weeks to prepare for their next opponent.
”I would love to see us continue to get better at the little things, such as boxing out, communicating on defense and closing out games when we have our opponents down,” said Speed.
