Lopes help playoff standing after win over No. 16 Cal Poly in regular season finale

The Grand Canyon University Men’s Rugby team is ranked 12th in the DIA College Rugby Top 20 Poll. After dropping a spot for the first time in nearly three months a week ago, the Lopes regained the No. 12 ranking this week, which is still the highest ranking they’ve enjoyed since the move upward to DI last summer. That adjustment of one spot could have a major bearing on their possible seeding for the DIA Rugby Playoffs, which begin in just over a week.
The Lopes’ regular season ended over a week ago with an important 31-26 win on March 26 over now-16th-ranked California Polytechnic State University. While Lopes’ Head Coach Cam Wyper thinks GCU will likely play one of the top four nationally ranked teams on the road either April 13 or 14, the Lopes still won’t be sure who their first-round opponent will be (and where they will have to travel to) until the regular season ends for all teams this coming weekend.

|10||Notre Dame College (OH)||10|
|14||San Diego State||14|
