Grand Canyon University has announced that the men’s rugby match between the Grand Canyon University Men’s Rugby team and the University of California Davis – scheduled for this Saturday, March 14 at 11 am at the GCU Practice Soccer Field – has been officially canceled.
GCU officials were notified today by Aggies’ coaches that their school’s administration had not cleared the team to make the trip to Arizona due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. Officials also tried to find a makeup date that would fit for all parties prior to the end of the D1A Rugby Playoffs to no avail.
The cancellation reduces the Lopes’ regular season schedule to six matches, and they finish the regular season with a 4-2 overall record, and a 4-1 mark in California Conference play. The cancellation won’t affect either team’s overall record.
