The Grand Canyon University Men’s Lacrosse team is ranked No. 13 in the latest Under Armour Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division I Coaches’ Poll. It’s a drop of two spots from the No. 11 ranking they held in last week’s poll. The Lopes remain one of four SLC teams ranked in the MCLA Top 20 (Concordia-Irvine is ranked 5th, Chapman is 9th, and Arizona State is 10th).
After impressively knocking off No. 20 UC-Santa Barbara, 15-13, then narrowly missing the weekend sweep with a 15-10 loss to No. 17 Cal Poly Sunday, the Lopes’ road gets no easier, since the latest poll has confirmed that all six opponents on the current season-opening homestand are nationally ranked. This Saturday’s opponent (noon at Prescott Field on the GCU campus), Colorado State, just jumped into the poll at No. 19, while tomorrow’s opponent, No. 7 Colorado, has been in the MCLA Top 10 all season. The Lopes and Buffaloes will clash under the big lights of GCU Stadium tomorrow (Thursday) night, February 28 beginning at 7 pm. Admission to each of those games is FREE.
