The Grand Canyon University Men’s Lacrosse team is ranked No. 20 in the latest Under Armour Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division I Coaches’ Poll. It’s a drop of four positions from the No. 16 position the Lopes held in last week’s poll. It’s also the 78th straight time (dating back to Week 7 of the 2013 season) that GCU has been a part of the national rankings. The Lopes are now just one of five SLC teams ranked in the MCLA Top 20 (Arizona State is 4th, Chapman is 5th, Concordia-Irvine is 9th, and Arizona is 12th).
The regular season schedule is now down to its final eight days for the Lopes. They’ll finish the regular season next Thursday, April 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, for a game against UNLV, but before that, GCU will be thinking upset in their home finale this Friday night, April 5. That’s when they’ll host the archrival Sun Devils from 4th-ranked Arizona State University to kick off the final men’s-women’s lacrosse doubleheader of the season. The men will bring up the lights first at GCU Stadium that night, facing off against the Devils at 6:30 pm before the Lopes’ Women’s Lacrosse battles ASU at approximately 8:30 pm. Admission to the doubleheader is FREE.
