The Grand Canyon University Men’s Lacrosse team is ranked No. 6 in the latest Under Armour Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division I Coaches’ Poll. It’s the second straight week that the Lopes occupy the No. 6 slot, and it’s the 25th straight poll (just over two years’ worth) that GCU has been ranked 6th or higher in the poll. The Lopes stay one of five Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) teams ranked in the MCLA Top 25 (Chapman is 1st, Concordia-Irvine is 8th, Arizona State is 17th, and UC-Santa Barbara is 18th).
After suffering their first two-game losing streak since 2016, the Lopes (7-2) bounced back to post an important road win when they used a big second half to down the 17th-ranked Sun Devils, 16-9, last Saturday at the ASU West campus in Glendale. That gave them their first win on their current four-game road trip, and they’ll have a chance to split the road trip this Saturday night when they travel south to Tucson to battle the University of Arizona in a 7 pm tilt. The Lopes’ next home matchup is their regular season finale on Saturday, April 14 against the University of Nevada-Las Vegas at Prescott Field on the GCU campus at 1PM, and admission is FREE.
