For the second straight week, the Grand Canyon University Men’s Lacrosse team is ranked No. 2 in the latest Under Armour Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division I Coaches’ Poll released earlier today. It’s also the 15th straight poll (dating back to Week 2 of the 2017 season) that GCU has been ranked in the MCLA Top 3. The Lopes remained the highest-ranked of five Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) teams ranked in the MCLA Top 25 (Chapman is 3rd, Concordia-Irvine is 9th, UC-Santa Barbara is 13th, and Arizona State is 16th).
The Lopes also remained one of seven undefeated teams in the rankings this week with another strong defensive performance, holding San Diego State without a goal for nearly the entire 2nd and 3rd quarters Saturday in GCU’s 10-7 victory in southern California. The 5-0 Lopes now return home for a matchup against another team from the Golden State, Sonoma State University, this Saturday, March 17 at Prescott Field on the GCU campus. Opening face-off is scheduled for 2 pm, and admission is FREE.
The entire Under Armour MCLA Coaches’ Poll is listed below:
