The Grand Canyon University Men’s Lacrosse team is ranked No. 7 in the latest Under Armour Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division I Coaches’ Poll.  It’s a slide of a single spot from the No. 6 slot that the Lopes had held the previous three weeks.  It’s also the 46th straight poll (since the 2015 season’s preseason poll) that they’ve been in the MCLA Top 10.  The Lopes remain one of five Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) teams ranked in the MCLA Top 25 (Chapman is 1st, Concordia-Irvine is 8th, Arizona State is 18th, and UC-Santa Barbara is 20th).

The Lopes’ most pressing ranking right now is one they are No. 1 in:  the top seed out of the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) South Division.  Their impressive 19-8 win over the University of Nevada-Las Vegas last Saturday at Prescott Field wrapped up the Lopes’ regular season with a 9-2 mark.  It will be their last action for two weeks, since they’ve clinched a first-round bye in the SLC Championship Tournament.  The Lopes’ first postseason action will happen Friday, April 27 in Carlsbad, California in the semifinal round against the winner of this weekend’s quarterfinal matchup between the North Division’s #2 & #3 seeds, 8th-ranked Concordia-Irvine and 20th-ranked UCSB.  Opening faceoff on Friday, April 27 is scheduled for 7:30 pm Arizona time, with the winner advancing to the SLC Championship Game Sunday afternoon, April 29 at 1:45 pm.
