GCU Club Sports is proud to announce that for the second straight week, the Grand Canyon University Men’s Ice Hockey Division II team is ranked 10th in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) West Poll. The Lopes continued to build on the history they set a week ago by reaching the top 10 in any poll for the first time in their two-year existence. The Lopes put that ranking to the test last weekend in Utah, facing three teams currently ranked in the new poll during a four-game schedule in four days. The Lopes are now three spots ahead of archrival Arizona State University, and have posted victories over five nationally ranked teams: No. 8 Weber State, No. 11 Brigham Young University, the 13th-ranked Sun Devils, No. 15 Colorado State, and 19th-ranked Long Beach State.
The Lopes won’t have a chance to build on the ranking this week, since they have Thanksgiving week off. Their next action will be another top 10 matchup as they host 8th-ranked Weber State University for a pair of games at AZ Ice Peoria Saturday and Sunday, December 2 and 3.
