GCU Men’s Ice Hockey is proud to announce the signing of Malik Lamotte-Stokes for the 2018-19 season. Lamotte-Stokes hails from the Orange County city of Westminster near Los Angeles, California. Lamotte-Stokes spent his high school days at Whittier Christian High, and comes to the Lopes after playing the last 2 years for the Oswego (formerly Syracuse) Stampede of NA3HL in Nation, New York. In 49 games over each of the last two seasons for the Stampede, the 5-foot-11, 215-pound forward scored a total of two goals while recording seven assists, and leading Oswego to the NA3HL Playoffs each year.
“We are very excited that Malik has decided to attend Grand Canyon University to further his education and play for our team,” remarked Lopes’ Head Danny Roy about the signing. “The addition of Malik is one that is going to make our program better in many different ways. Malik is a player who we feel can play in any situation and will be able to make an impact in or lineup.”
The Lopes finished the 2017-18 season with an overall record of 16-14 with three ties, and wound up with a No. 9 ranking in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II West Poll.
