The Grand Canyon University Men’s Ice Hockey Division II team is officially ranked in the first American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) West Poll of the 2018-19 regular season.  The Lopes are ranked No. 9 in the poll, which is the exact ranking they enjoyed in the final poll of the 2017-18 season.  It’s the 11th consecutive poll (dating back to exactly this date a year ago) the Lopes are in the ACHA Top 10 (including their highest-ever ranking of No. 8 last December).

The Lopes-who have already played four games this season against teams currently ranked in the poll-will now have a chance to play three more ranked teams in the span of two days this weekend as they travel to Utah to take part in the annual Beehive Showcase.  The Lopes will start off the four-games-in-four-days weekend tomorrow night with a matchup against unranked Utah Valley University, but then will clash against No. 10 Williston State College tomorrow and No. 11 Dakota College on Saturday before finishing out the weekend against none other than top-ranked University of Mary Sunday morning.  The Lopes’ next home game happens Saturday, December 1, when they face yet another ranked team in No. 16 Weber State University to begin a two-game weekend series.  The puck drops at 6:30PM that Saturday night at AZ Ice Arcadia (38th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix (arena is right behind the Sprint Store).
