Loss to Arizona State in NCBBA SoPac Regional Championship drops Lopes 3 spots

GCU Club Sports is proud to announce that the Grand Canyon University Club Men’s Basketball (Purple) team is ranked 14th in the latest National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA) Regular Season Poll. While it’s a drop of three slots from the last poll, it’s still the ninth straight poll that GCU has been nationally ranked in their first year of NCBBA competition.
The slide in the rankings wasn’t unexpected. After finally getting back into action for the first time in six weeks with a win last Saturday over California Polytechnic State University on Day 1 of the NCBBA SoPac Regional Tournament at Antelope Gym, the Lopes saw No. 7 Arizona State come from behind late to knock off GCU in the Sunday’s title game, 67-61. The loss sent the Lopes home one win short of their first-ever berth in the NCBBA National Championships. The Lopes finished the 2017-18 season with an impressive 11-3 overall record.
