GCU Club Sports is proud to announce that the Grand Canyon University Club Men’s Basketball (Purple) team is ranked 10th in the latest National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA) Regular Season Poll. The Lopes rose one spot from the No. 11 national ranking they enjoyed in the previous two polls (in mid-December and earlier this month), and it also marks the first time this season that the Lopes have been ranked in the NCBBA Top 10. It’s also the sixth straight poll that GCU has been nationally ranked in their first year of NCBBA competition. The Lopes’ Purple team ended their regular season schedule in historic fashion this past weekend, taking two of three games from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, thus wrapping up their first Southern Pacific East Conference title.

With the conference title now tucked away, the Lopes must wait for the leaders of the other two SoPac Conferences, UCLA and University of the Pacific, to finish out their regular season schedules to find out whether they will host the NCBBA Regional Playoffs March 24 and 25, or if they will travel to one of those California universities to try to earn the right to head to nationals.  In the meantime, the GCU White team will finish out their conference schedule this weekend against those same NAU Lumberjacks with a three-game set over two days at the Lopes’ Performance Center on the GCU campus. Game 1 will tip off at 7:30 pm this Friday, February 16, with Games 2 and 3 between the two teams happening Saturday at 11 am and 1 pm. Admission to all games is FREE.
