As a testament to how the program is growing, the Grand Canyon men and women’s bowling teams have secured two sponsorship deals for the upcoming season.
With one brand already being a sponsor and the other new to the team, head coach Ben Canfield expressed optimism for the milestone of the program. “Any sponsorship growth is welcomed,” said Canfield. “As the team continues to grow and begins to get more successful, our platform will. It will add another level to the program that will help with recruiting.”
Providing an opportunity where a student-athlete is able to form life-long relationships with teammates and coaches is a centralized value behind GCU Club Sports. But just like any other sports program in the country, winning a national championship is a season goal for all players and coaches. The two bowling teams will begin their conquest to achieve this goal in less than a month, and will be doing so while wearing apparel and accessories from Virtrue Bowling Supply and Genesis Bowling.
Virtrue Bowling will continue their sponsorship of the team for the third year. The local Arizona brand has four locations across the valley, and members of the GCU Club Bowling team will have the privilege of utilizing Virtrue’s services such as ball drilling, while also gaining professional bowling insight.
Genesis Bowling signs on with the Lopes for the first time this season. The Northern California-based company specializes in bowling accessories such as kinesiology tape and ball cleaners. Bowling fans will see Genesis’ logo on the Lopes’ team shirts this year, and will hear about them in GCU Club Sports’ social media pages. In exchange, the Lopes’ players will get to use some of the same products used by Genesis’ pro bowling clients. “I’m very excited with both partnerships,” said Canfield. “It’s nice for our bowlers to have a relationship with a pro shop where they can quality work done.”
The team will soon be announcing both their competition and practice squad rosters. Their season commences with a grudge match against Arizona State University on October 13 at Thunder Alley on the GCU campus from 5-10 pm.
