Lopes’ seven-game winning streak puts them at No. 18 in latest national baseball poll

GCU Club Sports is proud to announce that the Grand Canyon University Club Baseball team is ranked 18th in the latest National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) Division I Regular Season Poll. It’s the first national ranking the Lopes have earned this season, and it’s their first appearance in the NCBA Poll since May 4 of last year. GCU has been in the ‘Also Receiving Votes’ category of the poll since the start of the season, but have used a seven-game winning streak to catapult themselves into the NCBA Top 20. That streak has been highlighted by a 6-0 start in NCBA play, including a three-game sweep of the University of Arizona two weeks ago to begin Southern Pacific South Conference play.
Inactive since the sweep of Arizona, the Lopes will open the road side of their 2018 SoPac South schedule this weekend in southern California as they battle University of California-San Diego in a three-game set Saturday and Sunday. The Lopes’ next home contests will happen Friday, March 16, when GCU hosts No. 7 Colorado State University in a non-conference doubleheader at Coronado High School (7501 East Virginia Avenue in Scottsdale). First pitch is scheduled for noon and admission is FREE.
The entire NCBA Rankings are listed below:
|Rank||Team||Total Pts||Prev Rank|
|17||Florida Gulf Coast||93||T-19|
