“This weekend served smiles for miles,” said Lopes Head Coach Kim Weeldreyer.
The Grand Canyon University Running Club ran its first race of the season on Saturday at REVEL Mt Lemmon, and following that with the 44th Annual 3TV Phoenix 10K and Half Marathon Sunday through downtown Phoenix for a second consecutive year.
“This was an incredible opener for the season,” said Weeldreyer. “This road race was new to a lot of my runners, and most of my returners beat their personal record. We had fun this weekend, and that’s all I can ask for.”

Leading the way for GCU was Bridget Marvin, who recorded an impressive time at 1 hour 33 minutes and 5 seconds in the half-marathon. Marvin placed first in her age group (female 19-24), as well as taking 24th overall.
“I had no idea that I was even close to placing,” said Marvin. “It was really cool finding out that I placed first in my division. I was given the opportunity to meet and run with so many wonderful and talented people.”
Lopes’ Kaylee Padour placed second in her age group (female 19-24), while Jenna Miller finished fourth in her age group (female 19-24).
