Do you have what it takes to conquer campus in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Then you’re in luck.
There’s still time to register for the 2019 Grand Canyon University Esports Super Smash Showdown, which will be held Oct. 19-20 at the GCU Arena Main Lobby. The free, two-day tournament begins with Day 1 group stage action beginning at 12:30 pm. The event will transition to a double-elimination format on Day 2 as players battle for the Super Smash crown. Day 2 matches begin at 12:30 pm.
The prizes are certainly worth playing for.
The tournament champion will walk away with a 32-inch TV and Nintendo Switch to pair with an overflow of bragging rights. The runner-up will take home a Nintendo Switch Official Gamecube Controller (Ultimate Edition), while the third-place finisher will earn a $50 Nintendo gift card.
The tournament, which will be the biggest Esports event of the semester, is open to GCU students only. Nintendo Switches, Game, GameCube controllers and adapters will be provided. Players are encouraged to bring their preferred controller.
Registration is capped at a total of 256 competitors with a limited waitlist. Register today to throw your hat in the ring.
