Grand Canyon University Club Sports

Welcome to GCU Co-ed Artistic Swimming

Artistic Swimming – formerly known as Synchronized Swimming – is a graceful and powerful sport that is both physically and mentally challenging. The athletes that compete integrate the most difficult aspects of swimming, dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading. Grand Canyon University is a part of Team USA’s Artistic Swimming Organization. In 2020-21, we will compete in nationally ranked competitions doing team, trio, duet, and solo routines.

We are looking for athletes from all backgrounds, and no previous synchro experience is necessary!

The team is a great place to meet athletes from all over the country, create lifelong friendships, and get involved in the GCU Club Sports community!

GCU Artistic Swimming Coaching Staff

Kaitlyn Carboun

Head Coach
Contact Me

Kaitlyn Carboun heads west from Ohio to oversee the GCU Artistic Swimming program as it commences with its second year of existence in 2020-21.  For the Mesa native, though, the move means she’s coming home.

Carboun competed for six years with the Arizona Desert Dolphins club team and was selected to attend two international competitions before being recruited by Ohio State University where she was a member of their varsity synchronized swimming team. While there, Kaitlyn spent two years as team captain. The Buckeyes won three U.S. National Championships before Carboun’s senior season was shut down early due to COVID-19. Throughout these experiences, Kaitlyn also became a certified level 2 USA Artistic Swimming Judge, was the USA Artistic Swimming Collegiate Athlete Representative at the USAS Convention and served on the Athlete Executive Council for USA Artistic Swimming. Carboun has coached at various camps and clinics across the United States and was a head coach for a recreational artistic swimming team in Arizona for two seasons.

She graduated from OSU in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies – with a minor in Global Public Health.
