Get to Know GCU Club Tennis

The GCU Club Tennis team participates in many different events each year.  GCU Club Tennis competes in organized college club events and local United States Tennis Association (USTA) leagues, as well as home competitions with other university club teams and exhibition matches with community colleges across the Phoenix area. GCU Club Tennis is built on the love of the sport, community and healthy competition while building student leaders in a fun atmosphere. Join us for some fun!

We are a social tennis club for GCU students who are looking to continue their passion for tennis while working toward their academic goals. Our club practices twice a week, and is one of a select few club tennis programs in the country that has a designated head coach who is prepared and equipped to train the team and accompany it to competitions.

Contact Me

Ed Prudhomme is a GCU graduate, alumnus of the Lopes soccer team and now in his third season as the head coach of the club tennis team. The program was established in 2014 with only 16 members. Now, with the help of Coach Prudhomme, GCU’s tennis club has over 40 players and is a well-established team!

Coach Prudhomme began his coaching career in 1993, when he served as director of tennis at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale, Ariz. He not only holds an elite professional status as a member of the USPTA, but he also has won numerous sectional and national awards through the UPSTA and USTA as Facility Manager of the Year and Director of the Year.

Throughout his coaching experience, Coach Prudhomme has worked with players of all levels, ranging from beginners to elite. He has coached high school and junior college teams, as well as USTA sectional teams at national events. Many of his students have advanced to successful collegiate tennis careers! Coach Prudhomme holds the club tennis team safely in his hands and looks forward to meeting new team members.
