Welcome to GCU Club Beach Volleyball

GCU Club Beach Volleyball is ready for its third year of competition at Grand Canyon University in 2019-20. GCU Club Beach Volleyball provides an opportunity for students to meet new friends, compete in meets across Arizona, and take pride in representing their university while focusing on earning a degree. Club Beach Volleyball strives to provide a positive and energetic student experience, and help create memories that will last a lifetime.

GCU Club Beach Volleyball played its first match in February 2018, and looks to continue its growth to allow more opportunities for student involvement. Club Beach Volleyball consists of fall practices and scrimmages, and a competitive tournament schedule in the spring. The team competes locally against community colleges and four-year university club programs.

We are looking forward to future GCU students joining Club Beach Volleyball as we work to build our program.

Kami Dickerson, who played three years for the Lopes’ NCAA Beach Volleyball program from 2014-2016, steps into the role of head coach for the GCU Club Beach Volleyball program in 2019.

Dickerson graduated from GCU in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and went straight from commencement to the coaches’ box, spending a year as an assistant at Mira Costa College in the San Diego area, helping them to second place in the state. In 2019-20, after spending last year on the NCAA side of GCU Beach Volleyball as a volunteer assistant, Dickerson looks to help GCU Club Volleyball Director of Operations Kris Naber transform GCU Club Beach Volleyball from fledgling to powerhouse as well.

Hailing from the southern California town of Orange near Santa Ana, Dickerson was a star middle hitter/right side hitter for the Vanguards of El Modena High School, earning the team’s most valuable player award as a senior, and All-Century League honors during her junior year. Once she finished the volleyball season in the fall, Dickerson played basketball and ran track at EMHS to finish out the athletic season.

Dickerson was also a star on the club circuit in southern California, leading 18 Impact Kolbe to a runner-up finish in the 2010 Summer Soiree, and playing for the Golden West 18-Asics SCVA national qualifier team a year later. Outside of her passion for volleyball, Kami enjoys staying active by enjoying the great outdoors.
