The two-time defending WWLL DII champions have added an impressive class of 12 recruits to their roster for the 2018 spring season. The Grand Canyon University women’s lacrosse recruits come from all over the nation.

Lopes Head Coach Tracy Gallihugh uses a variety of recruiting tools to find great talent.

Gallihugh and her coaching staff use recruiting websites where they can see a player’s profiles, contact information and videos. Gallihugh has couple of recruiting tools one might not expect as a recruiting opportunity

“A really great recruiting tool is the CCSC scholarship that GCU offers to high school students who attended Christian and Catholic schools,” said coach Gallihugh. “A lot of great players attend these schools, and it is great that the students already know they can receive a scholarship.”

But that isn’t enough for Gallihugh,

“I got to the tournaments in and out of state, which provides me the opportunity to go and see girls from around the nation compete as well as to meet them face to face. I do a lot of coaching involvement in the Phoenix area with different high schools where I help or guest coach throughout the season giving me even more opportunities to meet potential recruits,” said Gallihugh.

Gallihugh’s recruitment process worked. “They are going to make a great impact on the program, and I am excited to see how they mesh with the returning players,” said Gallihugh.

The GCU women’s lacrosse team will begin preseason drills in September to prepare for the 2018 spring season.
